WMC: Lounging

Winter Music Conference rolled into town last week and dropped the beats all over Miami. Some of the coolest place to experience all the madness were in the VIP lounges and gifting suites that were scattered all across the Beach and Downtown. The Armani Exchange Lounge, for example, was where all the top DJs and producers stopped by. Some were there to perform, while others were just loungin'. If you missed it, take a look at some these snapshots.

Although spring winds continue to make fishing tough in many areas, Captain Rich Smith, reports that snook and redfish fishing has significantly improved in the everglades. Large snook over 30 inches were eating Rapala X-raps in Whitewater Bay, Hells Bay and Pearl bay. Fly fishing, on the other hand, remained difficult. Unless, of course, you find a good spot out of the wind.

NY Times Loves MOCA

MOCA Fresh

The New York Times just can’t stop gushing over Miami. The Gray Lady just recently ran an art feature touting the wonders of the Museum of Contemporary Art, or MOCA for those in the know.

The article, which can be read in its entirety here, discusses the beginnings of the museum that just recently was awarded a $5 million grant. The story goes on to interview Director, Bonnie Clearwater, as well as discuss the immanent ground breaking of MOCA’s expansion designed by Charles Gwathmey.

Heavyweights in the art world, like Martin Z. Margulies are even quoted saying, “In my eyes, [Bonnie Clearwater] is one of the prime movers in the community. She’s built that museum from the ground up with a constituency and collection.”

Even though we here in Miami already new the wonders of MOCA, it's nice to see them getting a little national recognition for their trouble.
