Azucar! Ten years in the making, the life and times of Cuban singer and actress
Celia Cruz is set to hit the
Tribeca Film Festival this month.
The documentary called
Celia The Queen is the brainchild of
Joe Cardona and
Mario De Varona, which together make up
Kids in Exile films.
Due to financial constraints, the film almost didn’t happen. It wasn’t until famed Cuban actor
Andy Garcia stepped in and gave the filmmakers the push they needed to finally complete the film.
