There’s a lot of ways of getting around on the beach, but there is only one quintessential South Beach way—on a skateboard. It doesn’t matter if you’re a 10-year-old novice or a seasoned grinder, somewhere deep inside you long to be the next Tony Hawk. An understandable aspiration for sure, but where does one go to begin to realize this lofty goal? No worries, dude, this better-than-a-sherpa-guide will navigate you through the concrete jungle and on to the best skate shops on the beach.
Univ: This place has quickly become all the rage on South Beach. Everyone from DJs to producers and the everyday goofy footer has been sporting products from within these hollowed walls. They mostly sell stylish skater garb, including shoes and accessories, but they also have a small, but wicked selection of boards.

MIA Skateboard Shop: What it lacks in selection and size this place makes up for in incredible style. Their boards have some seriously sick designs and their clothes are a sterling example of function and form. The best part is this place is that it's run by some real skaters that can do some crazy things on a board.

Fritz's Skate Bike & Surf: When serious skaters think of where to go to get some new trucks or just some schmooze with other like-minded grinders about gear, this is where they go. Synonymous with the South Beach skating scene, this is where the pros go.

Quicksilver Boardriders Club: When Matt Damon needs a new set of wheels or maybe just one of those crazy surfboards you stand on, he comes here. Aside from a superb selection of clothes, wheels and surfboards, this place also contributes to the SurfRider Foundation, which is dedicated to the preservation of our oceans. That alone makes us want to shop there.
