Animals Inherit Millions

These animals are in the green.

In an unbelievable act of generosity an anonymous donor has left Miami Metro-Zoo a gift of $2,307,684.36.

The zoo’s communications director, Ron Magill, in front of the Miami-Dade commissioner’s meeting on Tuesday, displayed the check. It was just the final gift in a silent partnership that started when an elderly man with white hair first approached Magill ten years ago. The man told him that he loved Metrozoo, and then proceeded to hand Magill a check for $90,000.

A year later there was another, this one for $100,000.

The man, who passed away in December, had done well for himself, making a fortune in the stock market. He only had two conditions, to remain anonymous and that Magill himself decide where to best spend the funds.

Even in death, those wishes were honored. Magill has since decided to use the money to revitalize the zoo’s dilapidated amphitheater. To read more about this altruistic act, click here.

I live very close to

I live very close to Metrozoo and I think it would greatly help the zoo if a nice chunk of that change was used to fix up my house. That way the zoo and my house could complement each other. My pool has a leak and I know that animals like to drink water, so right there is a connection that can't be denied. We can start with the pool leak and go from there. It's just that simple. Plus, I may have termites. Not me, the house. Some more of the money could be used to tear down the existing house and build a brand new one. The new house could have a nice view of the zoo and that way I can watch the animals from my house at night while Ron is at his house sleeping. Or maybe the anonymous donor thought that Ron was me, even though I'm much better looking, and he handed the check to the wrong guy. Maybe he meant to give the check to me and what he really said was, "I'm glad I met you," but Ron misunderstood and thought the man said "Metrozoo". We may never know. In all seriousness, anything someone can do to help animals, after what mankind has done to animals, is a good thing.
