Florida Wild Fires

The Mustang Corner Fire continues to burn in Everglades National Park.

TerraMetrics

The Everglades Wildfire, burning at Mustang Corner has already incinerated about 62 square miles of land. The smoke from the fire is noticeable in the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale areas.

Firefighters are working to control the blaze, but weekend weather may intervene and provide some help. If you plan on driving out west, you should expect delays on the roadways as the smoke is causing visibility issues (especially at U.S. 41 and Krome Avenue).

More than 200 firefighters are working to control the fire, which is considered to be about 30% contained. Broward public schools are on day two of no outdoor recess.
