It is time for renewal. It is time for rebirth. The great tumultuous crest of tourists that swept over Miami Beach during Memorial Day Weekend has receded. We are left cold and alone. The healing process must now begin. For this weekend, I ordain you to go out among the ruins (Washington Ave), aide the poor and the sinful (door staff and bartenders, respectively), and bless them by sharing what little you may have.
Verily, we present to you simple parties this week:
Thursday
Rokbar was closed last weekend for the same reason I lock my door at night. But now they're open again, for the same reason I open my door every morning: to receive a constantly-changing flow of friends, ready to have a good time. Rokbar's Thursday party is ever-reliable and the door policy is fairly reasonable. Music is open format and all over the place, in a good way, like Starbucks.
Rokbar is located at 1905 Collins Ave on Miami Beach. (Park in the lot on 21st St.)
Saturday
Modeselektor is at Studio A. This Berlin duo is known for their tough, edgy electronic sound produced on their own self-built hardware and software. Check out their MySpace for more about them and their music, or purchase your $15 ticket now.
Studio A is located at 60 NE 11th St in downtown Miami.
Also on Saturday: Club Space celebrates their 8th anniversary. We remember going to Space during the opening weekend. Space has really defined downtown Miami so you should attend and show some respect. Banging house music will be presented by Oscar G and Patrick M, among others.
Space is located at 34 NE 11th St in Downtown Miami.
Sunday
Industry Afterhours at Discotekka starting Monday mornings at 4am. This party is forbidden, naughty, and not something to tell your coworkers about. It's one of our favorite parties and if you can take a little leeway with going to work on Monday, we suggest you check it out. You'll probably have to pay $20 cover -- they're strict about comps -- but drinks are reasonable and you'll have a good time. Enjoy it while it lasts, because with Ten Museum Park, 900 Biscayne, and Marina Blue across the street are sure to object to this party's unusual operating hours.
Discotekka is located at 900 NE 2nd Ave in downtown Miami.
