Hurricane season began on June 1. If you're new to Miami, that means that every two or three weeks we'll get some vague warning about a distant tropical weather system and then live our lives in vague worry. In years past they would wheel out this man named Max Mayfield and have him rub a crystal ball to predict what will happen during the season, but after going zero for 15 of the past years predictions I believe they finally upgraded to a dartboard and blindfolded intern.
I'm telling you this because I care about you deeply and I want to be sure you get plenty of partying in during this summer. As a rule, hurricane watches occur only during the weekend, and not on Tuesdays or during conference calls, so we must begin our proactive compensatory partying immediately. Continue reading below the fold to see what's in store this weekend.
Thursday: I never mention a party two weeks in a row, unless they pay me (just kidding, unless you want to), but this is special news: Rokbar is celebrating their four year anniversary (meh) with open bar from 11pm to 1am (boing!). Rokbar is located at 1905 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach.
Friday: Hometown favorite Danny Daze is playing at the newly reopened The Forge restaurant and lounge. Fashion designer Ana Maria Guiulfo will be showing her pretty items, and you'll be drinking for free because we're giving away a free bottle to one lucky party. I won't even drink out of it! ..probably. Click here to enter the contest. The Forge is located at 432 41st Street in Miami Beach.
Saturday: Rejoice, a new venue! Aero Bar officially opens this weekend after much anticipation. New sights, new sounds, new staffers to upset with our sad, desperate antics. There is a good team behind this, so I have high hopes. DJs Granite & Phunk will be producing noises and thoroughly exercising the new sound system; on Sunday, Cedric Gervais will be celebrating his birthday along with Patrick M. Aero Bar is located at 247 23rd Street in Miami Beach.
