While the glitz and glamour of the 12-day, start studded and internationally acclaimed Miami International Film Festival was taking over Miami, a lesser known festival was also rolling, the Miami Underground Film Festival.
Not all films are created equally in the eyes of MIFF and when MUFF founder Rafael Diaz Wagner didn't make the cut, he began his own film fest. The film festival is still in its infancy, and gives independent film makers a chance to showcase their work.
MUFF's only rule, is that there are no rules (or so states the film fest passes, $10 per film or $25 for full-access). The festival's main venues were Gallery Jax, Miami Beach Cinematheque and Buck 15. The screenings took place March 5 - 9th.
Miami Underground Film Fest didn't go off without any hitches, according to Riptide. Despite the less than perfect opening, the show still sounded like a blast. Buzz is increasing for the event, and we're going to be sure to catch some of next year's screenings.
