Prime 112 is legendary on the Beach, and after one trip there you will see why. As someone who frequents the place, I'm going to share my favorites with you and help you navigate your way through this local eatery.
First, you should always make a reservation. Even with the reservation, you will most likely have to wait. Trust me, it's worth it.
The wine selection here is exceptional. For me, as long as it's red, I'm good to go. To start, I would go with the Pan Seared Diver Scallops ($25). My best friend is obsessed with this appetizer. They literally melt in your mouth. (At this point the wine should be corked and flowing.)
Prime 112 has a warm, very homey feel (dark wood, dark leather). The sides are served family style for sharing. Order the crispy white truffle French fries ($14) and the five-cheese truffle mac ($12). What can I say, I like truffles? Seriously though, all of the sides are amazing, so feel free to explore.
Main course for me is always the filet. I believe that this is the best steak in Miami. You can choose from an 8, 12 or 16 ounce ($37-$49). I prefer it medium rare.
On to desserts! Every desert at Prime 112 is a twist on a homemade favorite. The smores are my favorite ($12). Don't let the understated name fool you. The desert will come out as a big chocolate, marshmallow, peanut butter bowl of soufflé with the perfect amount of crunchy graham crackers baked in.
The downside to Prime 112 is that it is expensive. Even if you have to go a few days without eating in order to afford eating here, I recommend it. (I have actually done that, true story). Bring your friends when they're in town, bring your family, bring yourself - just get there.
