It's Wednesday, and dreams of the weekend are filling our heads. Why not clear your schedule for Friday, pack up the family and head out on a road trip to Lake Okeechobee with Plum?
Lake Okeechobee is a mere 2.5 hour drive from Miami.
Camping is the way to go when you visit Lake Okeechobee. Depending on
where you're staying around the lake, there are plenty of campgrounds
to choose from. Here is a list of campgrounds for the city of
Okeechobee.
Take a walk along the foot path surrounding the lake on the Herbert Hoover Dike, the
Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail. The trail is 120-miles long. This is the highest point for miles around, and is a perfect place for bird watching, and also for viewing sunrises and sunsets.
Interested in trying something new? Try some authentic Florida grilled seafood at
R.J. Gator's. If you're feeling brave, we recommend trying the alligator tail. Sounds appetizing, eh?
If you're feeling predatory, you can schedule a hunting trip and track down your choice of deer, duck, turkey, wild boar or alligator. Don't forget about the fishing (you are at a TK square mile lake, you know). Bass, Crappie, Bluegill & Shell Cracker are common catches.
You may notice that things may not be as lush as usual, the lake is experiencing a major drought for 2007. Don't let this deter you. Click
