Flamingo Bay has been excellent for snook, redfish and trout. The bite has been consistent from sunrise until about 9:30am, but after that, the fishing pretty much turns off. Some tarpon are around on the west coast, but not in the usual big numbers.
Chris Hunter at Worldwide Sportsman in Miami says anglers are catching large dolphin in the 30 to 40 pound range about 12 miles out. Wahoo up to 40 pounds are hanging a little deeper under the seaweed. Snapper and grouper are biting butterfly jigs fished on the patch reefs.
Fishing for peacock bass remains consistent with snook also available in larger canals like Tamiami (C4), Coral Gables Waterway (C3) and Black Creek (C1).
The beaches and jetties are producing snook and tarpon too.
Check back every Wednesday for a new report and make sure to listen to Chris Hunter on the Florida Sportsman radio show on 1080 AM Saturday mornings at 7am.-Tee Clarkson
