Weekend Preview: Local Vibe

It’s the calm before the Art Basel Storm. Take this opportunity to enjoy the bounties of the Beach before we are overrun with art enthusiasts from around the globe. As always, check out our calendar for a complete rundown of events.

Thursday

Tonight, take in a movie from the Miami Short Film Festival – they are playing throughout the city. After, you can start on the holiday shopping (it’s for a good cause!) with Bellitini Girl, a shopping event to benefit Daily Bread. Or, you can indulge with Mia, Marimekko and Martinis where you can shop for fashions and jewelry while sipping on complimentary martinis.

Friday

Get your network on with young fashion professionals at the Miami Fashion Alumni Association’s first anniversary. If that’s not your style, cheer on the Heat as they battle the Celtics at the American Airlines Arena. Put the perfect end the evening with a Jazz performance under the stars at MOCA featuring Ira Sullivan.

Saturday

Work up an appetite scoring one of a kind, funky holiday gifts at Kraftworks 3, then head over to the Dogma Anniversary Party for their 5th anniversary (plenty of food to be had). The festive weekend continues with the largest Garage Sale in the land, along with the bargains, enjoy food, entertainment and other fun activities.

Sunday

Brunch for the Animals at the Surf Club allows you to dine with your doggie at a canine inspired fundraiser overlooking the ocean. Then you can take your four-legged friend over to the Lincoln Road Farmer’s Market for a leisurely stroll while you shop for fresh goodies. Wind-down the weekend with the controversial piece, Ballet Mecanique, from composer George Antheil at the Wolfsonian.
