Pop quiz: What do Sumatra, Borneo and Miami Beach have in common? Answer: Two very endearing primates.
Meet Peanut and Pumpkin, three-year-old twin orangutans. Native to Borneo and Sumatra, the siblings are only the third set of orangutan twins to be born and survive in captivity. They are also top draws at Jungle Island, Miami Beach’s surprisingly eclectic animal park. Jonathan Vigliotti takes us inside the 18-acre attraction that houses over 900 animals. Here's a taste of what's to come:
- The world's largest rodent
- Squirrel monkeys
- Baby red kangaroos
- A 900-lb liger
- The world’s only trained cassowary (the most lethal bird on Earth)
- A 20-foot-long, 2,000-pound crocosaurus
